It’s truly a magnificent sight.

The scene of water cascading down the mountain like a waterfall allowed me to feel

the grandeur and beauty of nature at a glance.

The sound of clear water pouring down between the rocks, the refreshing mist,
and the surrounding green forest all looked like a beautiful painting.

정말 멋진 광경입니다.

산 위에서 물이 폭포처럼 흘러내리는 모습은 자연의 웅장함과 아름다움을 한눈에 느낄 수 있는 장면이었습니다.

맑은 물이 바위 사이를 타고 쏟아져 내리는 소리와 시원한 물안개,

그리고 주변의 푸른 숲이 마치 한 폭의 그림 같았으니까요.

At Maisan, if you fill a bowl with water for ritual use (jeonghansu) around 7 p.m.

on a winter evening, you can witness the mysterious phenomenon of “reverse icicles” the next morning.

In this special place, icicles form not by hanging down,

but by rising upward from the surface of the water in the bowl

 

마이산에서는 겨울철 저녁 7시경 정한수 물그릇에 물을 떠놓으면

다음 날 아침 역고드름을 볼 수 있는 신비한 곳이랍니다.

The soil of Maisan is characterized by a typical conglomerate terrain,

mainly composed of rocks formed by the solidification of mixed gravel, sand, and clay.

Due to weathering and erosion, various sizes of tafoni (weathering holes) have developed.

The soil layer is thin, and many rocks are exposed on the southern slope.

 

마이산의 토질은,

전형적인 역암지형으로 자갈, 모래, 점토가 혼합되어 굳어진 암석이

주를 이루며 풍화와 침심에 따라 다양한 크기의 풍화혈(타포니)이 발달되어 있답니다.

토양층은 얇고, 남사면은 암석이 많이 노출되어 있습니다.

Jinan-gun’s Maisan is famous for its unique shape,

which resembles a horse’s ears, its distinctive geology (tafoni),

and the stone pagodas that have been carefully stacked so they do not collapse.

 

진안군 마이산은 그 모양이 말의 귀를 닮았다는 특징과 특이한 지질(타포니),

그리고 무너지지않게 쌓아올린 돌탑으로 유명한 곳입니다.
